Over the course of a summer we spent seven weekends at CHSW's centres in Cornwall, Bristol and Devon. With years of experience filming people at vulnerable times in their lives we were chosen by CHSW to tell the families' stories as they enjoyed their special times there. We felt privileged to visit these wonderful hospices and to hear from the families who rely on the care and expertise offered by CHSW.
Fergus Wessel Stone Carver
Fergus's marketing manager arranged for us to film knowing how shy and apprehensive of the whole process Fergus was. His first words to us were "Well, I don't know how this is going to be possible" but by the end of shooting the interview he said "Was that it, have you done it?" We captured Fergus's passion and brilliance by closely observing how he works and being very low key in our approach so that he was entirely comfortable with us. The filming was the start of a great friendship based on mutual respect.
The Spirit of Letter Carving : Interview with Fergus Wessel
For this shoot the client wanted still photographs and a video which showed the journey from field to supermarket which their flowers make. It is quite a different mindset to do stills and video simultaneously but we find more and more clients are asking for this and we are happy to oblige wherever we can, especially when we get a beautiful bunch of flowers to take home at the end of the day!
Swedish Steel: The Long House
In Amersfoort, near Amsterdam, is an unusual house tucked away on a riverbank. Taking his inspiration from the nearby farm buildings, architect Rick Eijsbouts from Architecten Studio-pls has built an award-winning domestic house which is was our pleasure to film on a very hot day in the summer. Our client was Swedish Steel, whose Greencoat product makes up the entire roof. The brief was to tell the story of the Greencoat product through the story of the house, while not making it too overtly about the roof.
Tucked away in the Scottish Highlands is a red-rooved former shepherd's hut that caught the eye of 2017's RIBA judges and was shortlisted for a national award. We spent a misty weekend filming with owner/architects Gillian Scampton and Andy Barnett to produce a film which they described as "simply a piece of art"
Energy consultant experts Roadnight Taylor contacted us for help in explaining exactly what they do. As we worked together on simplifying their message they recognised that some of the more complex issues facing those wanting advice are best explained in video.

The Tin House, RIBA London Award winner 2016.
The client wanted an inspirational video specifically for architects to give a sense not only of the poetry and artistry which the right form of lighting lends a building, but also to demonstrate how their bespoke range can influence the design of an award winning building. We spent a morning filming with the delightful architect Henning Stummel who has since used our video when presenting at conferences and awards.

Architect Henning Stummel talks about the Tin House, RIBA London Award winner 2016.
Swedish Steel approached us because they wanted a film which speaks directly and truthfully to architects and doesn't feel like an 'sales pitch'. They made the colour-coated steel for the roof and facades of the winner of the prestigious RIBA London Award in 2016, The Tin House and wanted to develop the media coverage of that award. They had seen and loved another film we made about the Tin House and wanted something with the same impact.

Mulberry Bush School
This is a clip from a longer film which tells the story of how the extraordinary Mulberry Bush School began in 1948. The complete film was used for a fund-raising gala evening. We have made 5 films for the school and have loved working with them over the past two years
