'The Parents' Story'

In another video for The Mulberry Bush School parents, whose family lives changed when they found a place at the school for their child, tell of their experiences before they found the school. We see the range of work and therapeutic care given by the staff and how positively the children respond.

'How it All Began'

For their 70 Year celebrations this year The Mulberry Bush School wanted to commemorate the opening of the school in 1948 with a video. Against a backdrop of wonderful black and white photos of children at the school in the years immediately following the 2nd World War, we tell the story of its founder, Barbara Dockar Drysdale and her determination to establish the ethos of the school.

We've completed a few videos about the importance on our health of sleep patterns and the exciting new research happening at the Oxford-based Circadian Therapeutics. The world-leading science generated by its academic founders is the basis of development of therapeutic products based on the understanding of the molecular control of circadian rhythms.

Circadian Therapeutics' website is being updated and currently there is one of our short videos up, more to follow ....

November 2017

Can't believe the summer's gone! It's been a busy one for us, revisiting previous clients and working with new ones.

June: for The River Learning Trust, an established multi-academy trust, we had the pleasure of making a recruitment film with CEO Paul James and staff at two of their schools in Oxfordshire.

July: for SSAB, Greencoat we revisited architect RIBA nominee Henning Stummel whose Tin House has been nominated for the World Architecture Festival Award in Berlin this autumn. A year on from our first film we found out how Swedish Steel's Greencoat product has stood up to a year in the limelight!

July: we had a great time with energy consultants Roadnight Taylor again. CEO Hugh Taylor is now becoming quite the media professional and we enjoy scripting and filming regular Vlogs with him, in addition to our new film on their updated website.

September/October: we spread our wings and went to Scotland and Stockholm to make three more films with architects for Swedish Steel. Near Skye we spent a delightful weekend filming Fernaig Cottage, RIAS 2017 winner and long-listed for RIBA House of the Year. Architects Andy Barnett and Gillian Scampton have created a very special holiday 'retreat' from a traditional shepherd's hut in the highlands which will be featured on C4's Grand Designs on Tuesday 9th November at 9pm.

In Stockholm we filmed architects from Utopia and GWSK who both have projects shortlisted for this year's World Architecture Festival. They are inspiring designs and we wish them luck. We are completing editing this week ready for showing at WAF in Berlin this month and will post links to the websites soon.

The Mulberry Bush School

This weekend we shall be filming again at The Mulberry Bush School, who will be celebrating their 70th anniversary in 2018. Last week we spent some time with members of staff at the school to give them a few tips on how to support the children making their own videos using iPads when they're away camping this week. We can't wait to see the results and hope to include the children's work in a collection of videos for the school website later this year.

Step up for Alex

This week it's been a pleasure to film 5-year old twins Alex and Izzy. Alex has cerebral palsy and needed an operation to give her the chance of walking. There was no funding for this on the NHS and her parents, Fiona and Calvin Hutt, raised the money to have the surgery done privately. 6 weeks later and Alex is working hard at the intensive physio she will need for years to come. We'll be making a more in-depth film about Alex and Izzy in the early summer but we compiled this short film from footage shot by Steven Fontaine and added more of our footage. The video will be shown at the fund-raising ball this weekend in Shipton under Wychwood. The backing track is original music composed by 13 year old Evie Arnold and she and her brother Alfie will be singing it live at the ball.

D-Day Airtours

D-Day Air Tours take American tourists on spectacular, luxurious one-day tours of the World War 2 battlefields of Northern France. They contacted us with a bit of a challenge: "Our website designer tells us we need a film. Can you make this for us? Oh, and we can't take you on a tour to do any filming."

Mmmmm. After hunting down photos from previous tours and some archive stills from the wonderful Washington Library of Congress, we wrote a script to cover all the locations the tour visits. We spent a delightful morning recording this with company owner Michael Phillips, who became quite the professional on camera.

The Tin House

Last summer we made a video about the rooflights in The Tin House:

The Rooflight Company made and supplied the windows for the 2016 RIBA London Award winning building and last night's 'Grand Designs' on Channel 4 was the final of the RIBA House of the Year Competition, with the Tin House on the shortlist! Architect Henning Stummel is a joy to interview and talks poetically in our film about the effect the light, which these bespoke roof windows let in, had on the design for this stunning, highly unusual domestic building in Shepherds Bush.

Tabitha James Kraan

John's just delivered some gorgeous product stills ( to Tabitha James Kraan. This summer we made 9 short "How To" videos for Tabitha, having made a film about her business ethos just over a year ago. The business is expanding and more clients are buying her market-leading organic hair products online so Tabitha wanted to be sure that you can easily understand what a difference it can make to your hair when you use her products as they are designed to be used. Simplest way to do this? Videos of course!

Mulberry Bush School

The Mulberry Bush School near Witney, Oxfordshire, works with some of the most traumatised and vulnerable primary school-aged children in the country. These are children who have been excluded from all other schools and for whom the Mulberry Bush is a last resort.

They wanted a film to show at big dinner this week in London where they're hoping to raise funds to build a house where those children who have no home to go to at the end of term can be safe. The film had to be informative, attention-grabbing and short, without identifying the children. We spent 4 days at this amazing school, filming the children and staff in class, at play and at 'home'. It was a real privilege to be there and we hope the film helps the fund-raising journey. For confidentiality reasons this video is not on-line anywhere.
